Starting this week, Weds Feb. 22, 2012- stop in to our Echo Park location and
be part of the project. In a nutshell, Susan Vasconcelos is photographing 100 customers
at Spitfire Girl to be part of a gallery show to take place at the shop later this Spring.
This project will be purely analog, using only a 35mm camera, natural light and you.
We’re going old school baby!
Remember, we’re closed Mon. & Tues. but other then that- come as you are.
Bring a friend, everyone’s welcome.

*Participants and attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a free photo session with Susan to be scheduled at a later date as well as a kick ass gift from Spitfire Girl!

Aging Tastes Good

Hi All,

Right now I want to talk about birthdays. You see, my birthday is fast approaching, and for that reason I am in Paris. (I’ll come back to that.)

But I won’t lie to you, sometimes birthdays are difficult. I think to myself:

“Who am I? What have I been doing? Is that a new wrinkle? I can’t hide mouth wrinkles with bangs or a new haircut!”

Down the rabbit-hole I fall. And then I think to myself,

“Maybe someone will give me money for my birthday. Maybe I’ll get more money back from my taxes. Maybe I will save up for botox.”

This makes me happy for a second. And then I think to myelf, “Look at what you’ve become: a part of the machine, you say yes to the man, you’re but a robot!”

Haha, but not this year! This year I’m in Paris, where EVERYTHING GETS, no… TASTES BETTER WITH AGE!!!

2012 is a good year my friends. So far, I have been in Paris for a week, and I have been non-stop eating all kinds of dirt-nasty, moldy cheese… such as roquefort, brie, camembert, and some others that I can neither pronounce nor spell. I have also been sippin on that wine juice, which is just super-old grapes and stuff!!

The point is this: *Aging tastes good* It might smell really bad at first, but then your nose will adjust to that smell…. and then-only then-will you be able to enjoy classy wine and cheese.

Unless you’re lactose-intolerant. (If this is the case, you should think about botox.)

p.s. If you or someone you know is having a birthday, it is a good idea to get them a bottle of aged wine, paired with a zodiac wine stopper or -in the name of all things classy and French- a Napolean wine stopper (in stores).

A couple of days ago, I was driving down Sunset through Silverlake, and this is what I saw:

A wave of total outrage washed over me!

Everyone knows that Spitfire Girl is V-day headquarters….

I knew that there was obviously something fishy behind this false advertising. And then, the next day passing through Silverlake, I saw this:

I knew it had to be some type of other-wordly evil and it was…. Gollum. All he ever wanted was to be loved and now he’s taking it out on the rest of us.

Hopefully you’re smart, and know not to buy you’re new girl or guy something like a mop or 99 cent can of tomatoes. Because if you do, Gollum wins, and no one will ever be loved again.
